I just bought a new rug for my living space - When I saw this photo I felt better about putting a smaller rug in a larger space with none of the furniture on it. Looks great! Is there a "rule of thumb" on size of rug vs. room? »
The Red Jet Thanks! I tend to think there are no "rules" and just go with my gut. (Professionals might say otherwise, ha ha) For this room, I have so much going on already, I thought that a larger rug might be overwhelming, plus this one was cheaper since I could buy fewer Flor tiles.
After discovering FLOR tiles a number of years ago, Amanda found that she was drawn to their versatility but interested in more patterns. With the help of a utility knife and a few colored tiles, she came up with her own clever geometric pattern and assembled the rug in her living room. See the before and after on Amanda's blog, Red Jet Whistle.
3. Mid-century retro in a Boston apartment: This apartment in Boston belongs to Amanda, the author of the blog Red Jet Whistle. In addition to some great thrift scores, her creative moves included displaying a vintage Marimekko piece of fabric with stretchers, and cutting up FLOR tiles to create a unique area rug.
I love how minimal, how cozy and personalized this space is. It's not cluttered but still has a lot of character and has the right amount of accessories. Love the white walls and all the light in this space
Thanks
