This is a favorite of mine. It began with an image taken across the face of a women—from behind. So here her cheek becomes an horizon line (like the edge of a landscape) with the moon rising over her eyes. It’s fascinating how if you change the point of view (perspective) on a familiar image (face) commonplace details (eg eyebrows and eyelashes) nearly become abstractions. Everything is black and white except the moon. By the way—moons are a frequent element in my work. That’s because, thanks to my grandfather, I’ve been an amateur astronomer since I was a kid.
