Love your kitchen! I'm considering purchasing 2 of the small victorian pendents from Restoration Hardware. - Do you think they put out enough good amount for light if I don't have my recessed lights on? »
Heydt Designs I think you'll need the can lighting on as well when you are working in the kitchen. When you are entertaining in the kitchen, only having the pendants on will be fine.
Heydt Designs Thank you. Yes, the were custom designed and fabricated. The fabricator was Hampton's Cabinetry.

Heydt Designs Sorry for the delay in response. It's Calacatta Oro Marble, similar to Carrera, but at a higher price point. It's less speckled than Carerra and more vieny. The Oro refers to the fact that it has some gold coloring as well. Hope that helps!
Heydt Designs They've held up extremely well! Firstly, because they are an engineered product with a factory applied finish, and secondly because the nature of the wood is rustic which hides wear and imperfections.
Heydt Designs The room is 21'-6" x 11'-6", including the nook. The kitchen is 17' long along the sink wall before the nook and the nook protrudes another 4'-6". Hope that helps! Leigha
Heydt Designs They are 25.75" tall. Here's the link: http://www.dwr.com/product/marais-counter-stool.do They are considered 'counter height' stools, as opposed to 'bar height' which are taller. Regular kitchen counters are typically 36" high, raised bar areas are higher, generally around 42" tall. Here is a link which describes how to determine the right size for your kitchen counter.http://www.buying-bar-stools.com/buying-guide.html Best of luck! Leigha
Microwave area - What is size of microwave and the cabinet to left (width and depth?). I am thnking of a similar configuration and was wondering what yours is. Pros and cons in use? What is the left (pull-out?) cabinet used for? »
Heydt Designs It's a 30" wide microwave cabinet and the cabinet to the left is an appliance garage. I'm sorry but I don't know the pros and cons in use because the owners haven't mentioned it. But I know they love the kitchen! (: Best of luck! Leigha
Heydt Designs Thanks Cathy. I know this is an unnecessary reply, but I'm adding it because it shows up as an unanswered question on Houzz, since you were the last person to reply to the question. So, no need to reply again! (: Thanks! Leigha
Are the wall and trim colors the same as the cabinets ie Hazy Skies? If not, what colors are they? - Also, could you share your backsplash tile choice? Thank you - the kitchen is gorgeous! »
Heydt Designs Ah, this is a bit deceiving, sorry. There are can lights recessed into the ceiling, but the photographer photoshopped them out because the photo looks better that way! (:
Heydt Designs Hello, thanks for the appreciation! The room is 17' x 11'-6", not including the nook. The 17' dimension is along the window wall where the sink is. Best of luck! Leigha
Heydt Designs Thank you for the appreciation! The floors are a pre-finished product by Navarre. The color is 'Montauban'. The top layer is distressed white oak. They were selected by Benjamin Dhong Interiors. Best! Leigha
jmaurry Hi Leigha, beautiful kitchen and house! I am looking for an oil finish white oak floor and was considering DuChateau but keep finding their boards all vary wildly... did you have a problem with Navarre planks being different from the board you purchased from, or within the boxes that there rec'd? I want to be sure I get what I think I'm getting! Also, we are going for a more clean but slightly distressed look, would this floor have too much character and knots, or just the right amount? (I have been looking at Vernal collection from DuChateau. Looking for something in the brown with slight grey undertone. Thanks so much!
While Heydt designed the layout of the appliances, the nook and the windows, the wife, her mother-in-law (a kitchen designer who lived on the East Coast) and interior designer Dhong and design consultant Matthew MacCaul Turner took it from there. An oversize pendant draws the eye to the center of the room, lending balance. Cabinet-front panels camouflage the refrigerator, while bright yellow industrial counter stools add sunny color.
this is the same photo i wanted mom and dad to model their kitchen (and everything else) after....they used it to do the tops of their cabinets.
but....kindof a colour you were looking at, with light wood floors....nice
layout of sink/window wall. Would need to be longer for more counter space. Like the deep cupboard so the microwave sits inside with narrow counter space is front
