EW: Now this principal bedroom is very moody, but has an understated glamour. You really took full advantage of the natural light in this room when painting it such a dark color.
CE: The room overlooks a golf course and does receive a ton of light. The darker color softens the effect of all the sunshine pouring in to the window.

2. Think about how each piece of lighting will be used. Decide where you want to put the lamps. Make sure there is an outlet nearby to avoid unsightly extension cords. Determining the space where the lamp will go will help you decide what size is needed where. Do you need a lamp with a narrow base? Do you want a tall lamp with a wider shade? These variations won't work in every part of the room.

This swanky and rich bedroom looks great during the day — I can only imagine how posh it must look at night!
Tip: Some of the best advice I've ever heard when it comes to designing dark spaces is to incorporate items that are shiny so it never looks daunting during the daylight hours. I think the mirror, shiny wood floors, leather chair and metal light fixtures prove that point quite well.
