The original kitchen needed help. Upper and lower cheap laminate white cabinets and a massive refrigerator took up too much space. Kim took down the upper cabinets and put storage underneath and in a separate pantry. Black chalkboard walls and a custom concrete countertop tone down the column's flashy mirrored tiles. Kim recently took down half of the wall looking into the living space to create this bar area, with a raw wood slab bartop. Bar stools: Philly, CB2; countertop; Paco Originals; mirrored tiles: CoolTiles; light fixture: Ikea
PINK - painted ceiling (pink!) with pot lights brightens the area but doesn't steal the focal point from the mirrored column; it balances that glitziness so the column doesn't dominate every thing else.
