kishoris we just got crytal white quartzite. it does not stain and is stronger than granite. you have to be careful to clean up acidic spills because it can etch, but they told me it takes 2 hours for that to happen, so not really a big deal. I think it's nicer looking than marble, but I was surprised to find out it can actuallly be more expensive.
Michele Molho do you know the size of the windows on either side of the range, we were thinking about doing the same thing in our kitchen with 18 inch windows but I am not sure if they would be too small - thanks!
