i am thinking this is what our bedroom would look like if we went all dark woods w/ dark wood floors. Of course we do not have to go as dark on the walls but just notice the dk wood furniture next to the floors. The idea is to get a HUGE rug or carpet made to go under bed and stick out on both sides at least 3-4 ft, that would brighten it up but also would need to be replaced, ultimately for wear and tear, stains, etc.
