Creative Decor by Mandi Hi Mandie...florals aren't strictly feminine, after all, flower gardens are seldom labeled as "too girly". Try balancing the florals and soft colors in the room with other natural elements to give a more neutral and gender-open feel that still lend to the cottage look you are trying to achieve, such as plants, pinecones, birchwood bark, branches, leaves, pebbles and stones. You can also lean more towards browner pink tones that don't weigh as much on the feminine side. Take a look at Benjamin Moore allspice 2101-50, cherry malt 2104-50, monticello rose HC-63, coral dust 2173-50 or cappuccino 2096-50...all of these pink tones feel very soft and cottagey especially paired with manchester tan HC-81 and georgian green HC-115. Good luck...
michigammemom Share some houzz cottage style interiors with your husband and see if you can come to some consensus on a room that is comfortable for both of you. Here is a lovely cottage/coastal living room with fresh flowers, beautiful accessories and petite scaled furnishings for you and neutral colors and textured reclaimed wood for him. I'm sure you can indulge your desire for pink, lavender and yellow florals in art and accessories.
Creative Decor by Mandi The pink stripe quilt is called "Pickstitch" by Liz Claiborne...found it at either Homegoods or Burlington about 3 years ago. This is actually a full size quilt that I ran horizontally and tucked to fit the twin size bed.
