GARY FINLEY, ASID that kitchen looks rather county...(dressed-up but english county kitchenish) Maybe you need a fresh outlook and another set of eyes to assist you in defining what and how you need to move ahead??? ever worked with a designer.....I do consults and have many long distant clients....worth considering

btarvinrdh You've probably already chosen your cabinets, but if not, I wonder if you looked under a "Mediterranean" style, if you'd find what you're looking for. I know you said traditional, but I've found often times the styles somewhat "blur" if you know what I mean. I'm sure whatever you choose will look amazing; I like the look of a black island as well. I feel accessories/decor can also make a big swing as to the overall style-especially if someone wanted a more country/cottage/shabby look (so stands to reason it could do the opposite as well) These are just my thoughts, I'm not a professional interior designer, though should probably look into it since it consumes an unproportianate amount of my time! Lol
