What artwork to put on sliding cabinet doors in front of TV - Please give me some ideas of artwork to put on the front of my TV cabinet doors. They are on a track that slides sideways over bookshelves on either side, and I don't want a big expanse of white....

Perhaps a complimentry set (2) of abstracts similar to the one in the right side. Mount them about 8 " above the TV cabinet.

TVCoverUps
Another option is TVCoverUps. Framed art(including your own) or Mirror adds to the room's decor, with the hidden TV and Entertainment Consoles beneath.
See how EASY it really is:

Any cooling issues? - HDTV like any electronic appliances generate heat, it's worse with plasma TV. Did you encounter heat issues from your enclosed TV? Does your design involve a "Chimney" within the wall or did you install cooling fan? Thanks! Cansly

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Color isn't the only thing to take into consideration with your sofa. You also want to think about shape. I love the slightly curved shape of this sofa. It's almost like a classic sofa but it has that slight twist to it that keeps things interesting.

... and bigger....
If your objective is for the TV not to become the centerpiece of the room, install it low on a wall directly at eye level. This allows for the actual wall to remain the star, especially if the wall is covered with an interesting material or texture.

Series of IDEAS about Fireplace TV: 1)The flat screen tv (up to 55 inches, depending upon cabinet dimensions) sits in the cabinet and lifts from the top at the touch of a button. When we want to watch it, the tv is easily accessible. But when we do not want it, it discreetly hides away and most guests do not even know it is in there. Very popular in Europe, they are now becoming available in the US. The one pictured here is from Ethan Allen (Townhouse Video Lift Cabinet), but they can be found elsewhere by googling "Video Lift Cabinet." 2)In rspknse to the question of where to hide components, get an IR repeater which allows you to control the dvr, cable, tv dvd etc without clear line of sight meaning they can be in a closed door cabinent. All the remote need to "see" is the tiny box that all of the components are connected to...so easy to install -- we have them on all our tvs and you wont see a cable box at all! 3)New ultra-thin flatscreens (I'm installing a house full of LED models that are about 1" thick) can look like "art" - provided you can recess the mounting bracket or arm. There are products available to help you do this -- without terribly expensive wall reconfiguration. This one from Sanus is designed to fit between 16" on center studs and accomodates fully articulating arms that support TVs up to 55" or bigger. They are pretty reasonable at about $150-200 +whichever arm you choose + installation. http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/visionmount/other/LR1A

This minimally decorated space is devoted to TV-watching, but doesn't skimp on design. The slightly curved sofa softens the sharp angles of the TV and walls and cool colors are warmed up by bright artwork just outside the main space.
