hi,
I am designing a similar deck by the pool
I had a question in regards to having the deck right on the edge of the pool.
Has the deck been fixed to pool cooping or do you just have them connected to joists on either side?
Is pool splash going to be an issue in long term? »
modernistmaude Hi moxidigital - love this home and deck. WE are building a similar deck around one side of our pool and also concerned about longevity of deck/timber near the salt water, along with keeping splashed water bouncing back into the pool. This looks like a concrete buffer to me. Its really important to keep the deck well maintained/oiled for longevity. Im definitely not an expert, but usually they would be built on joists. There are the alternative wood look alikes, eg Trex, etc. too which would be much easier to look after, but personally I love the look of timber, despite the maintenance!
Can we have the dock deck have a step up from the yard instead of it being flat. A floating box perfect square. with a distinct frame around same as the deck by the sliding glass door.
WE COULD BUILD OUT A PATIO TO COVER SOME OF THE AWEFUL SHAPE OF OUR POOL AND ALSO DOUBLE IT AS A JACUZZI PLATFORM/PATION, THAT WAY NO WALKING THROUGH YARD, CLOSER PLUMBING = CHEAPER AND VISUALLY AWESOME
cool elements - notice they take the decking up to the pool edge in lieu of coping, also the small grassy area. Also like the interesting columns that tie into the terrace
