Perched on wooded hilltop, this historical estate home was thoughtfully restored and expanded, addressing the modern needs of a large family and incorporating the unique style of its owners. The design is teeming with custom details including a porte cochère and fox head rain spouts, providing references to the historical narrative of the site’s long history.
COOK ARCHITECTURAL Design Studio Thank you for your interest in our project. Unfortunately we do not recall the color and our records are stored off site.
What materials/design was used to keep the roof of the screened porch from leaking? thanks - We are building a home with a similar balcony over a screened porch, but are not sure about how to best waterproof the ceiling. Most materials seem to have issues with leaks, one supplier suggested a concrete floor above which quadruples the cost. help! »
COOK ARCHITECTURAL Design Studio Thank you for your interest in our project, for this roof we used a modified bitumen roof (like a rubber roof) pitched to drain to the fox head scuppers. The wood deck is built on top of that on ripped 2x framing to make it level and is not fastened through the membrane, it just floats on top and is contained by the perimeter curb. The ceiling of the porch can be stained wood with a good clear coat finish or if you are going to paint it use something like Azel pvc bead board. We hope this information is helpful.
