Of course, I can't deny that there is something alluring about the simplicity of the primary colors. What I see as great here is that those colors (blue and yellow, in this case) can be used with just a slight alteration in the lines of the room to create a fresh and modern look. In this case, most of the room maintains those clean straight lines but the yellow piece on the back wall is hung at an angle to catch you a little bit off guard.

A really interesting way to make this color combination work is to incorporate one color into the home's design and choose the other color for bold artwork. That's what we see here with a purple exterior enhanced by a purple set of dining chairs and then a bold piece of yellow-only artwork on the walls.
