I love the brick look and have been thinking of doing that in my kitchen. I have cream colored smooth and polished travertine floor, going with frameless white shaker style cabinets and I'm struggling with the color of a counter top and a backsplash material and color. I would probably pick the reddish brick with white but don't know where to get that since I don't believe regular construction brick is used as a backsplash. I also wanted to build around the structural beams with same color brick, making a good size column. Help! »
mikeswife0904 I do love brick as well! We installed a contrasting brick wall in our family room, and with my "italian country" decor, it works wonderfully! However, it does collect dust that is difficult at best to remove. I can only imagine the cleaning nightmares that would take place over a stove top. I was thinking that a nice alternative, that you might even say resembles brick at least shape-wise, is subway tiles. As you probably already know, it comes in different sizes and a zillion colors. You could easily get that "feel" you're probably looking for. Keep us posted!
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Hi there. I am just finishing a kitchen project for a client who also wanted brick. We used this company Arto Brick, take a look at their website...
http://www.artobrick.com/ The look is rustic and perfect for Spanish style, modern style, or rustic style.
I used the 1x9 Villagio Brick GB25 in Tuscan Mustard...
http://www.artobrick.com/interior-exterior-wall-floor They have many different options and colors. The bricks are easy to clean with just a wet sponge.
Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart
