Redoing our bathroom. Wanted to know your opinion on fixtures matching. I have chosen large light sconces for either side of the mirror that are iron from restoration hardware. Do the faucets, drawer knobs etc. need to match? Thank you. »
mousemaker i agree that it's a matter of personal taste. it's your home, do what you want :)
the only thing i know about bath fixtures is that if you have hard water it can wear away some finishes.
Letitia Holloway No, there are no rules in design!!!
The iron light fixtures could match only your entrance door hardware or nothing at all, and that is fine. The most durable finish is Chrome or Nickel and Mousemaker is right about the wear of darker finishes like Tuscan or Oil Rubbed Bronze.
There are few lines that warrenty those finishes and some are called "live finishes," as they change over time (patina or wear away). You have to pay more for a darker finish that will last. Although Delta faucet dark finishes won't last forever, they have some great looking designs.... check them out if you are looking for dark finishes on a budget.
