Derviss Design Sanding : It depends on how rough the wood was originally cut. As far as sealer goes, that is a personal option whether you'd like the wood to grey out naturally or retain its fresh cut color.
These urban Adirondack-like chairs, a custom design by Northern California artist Jimmy Matcock, are simpler and more modern. The single-board back might be a more comfortable version for people who don't like the feel of the traditional slats.

The simplicity and straight lines of the chairs. It looks as if the maker and designer bought four separate 1"x12" boards and made each chair. My only dislike is the depth from the bottom of the seat to the bottom of the chair backing. Otherwise, love the nice rustic look!

My family has something like this at the cabin. We call it the "sandbox". It is the gathering place for everyone. You can always find someone there reading a book, enjoying the scenery or sitting around the fire as the sun sets.
