Faucets and hardware finishes - We are about to order our bathroom hardware. Our shower, vanity and roman tub are brushed nickel. The counter is black, vanity cabinet, antique white with black pulls, birch colored tiles. We are considering the rest of the hardware in the room to be black. Towel racks, door knobs/hinges, frameless shower hardware, recessed light fixtures, etc. Is it ok to mix these finishes or do we need to match all hardware as stainless? This picture shows a mix? »
Ward-Young Architecture & Planning We do not have quick access to the plans for this project as they have been stored, however, it is approximately 10 feet. The overall length required will be determined by the length of the tub you choose. Thank you!
what type of floor and wall tile is used in this photo? - is this a porcelain tile or natural stone? is this a polished or honed tile, or is is a matte fininsh »
Ward-Young Architecture & Planning We do not have the exact sizes, but from looking at the photo, the shower walls are 12 x 12 or 16 x 16, the shower floor is 3 x 3, or 4 x 4 and the bathroom floors are rectangle cuts.
fixtures - This may sound silly also but did they mix the finishes on the fixtures in this bathroom? It looks like they've used oil rubbed bronze and chrome or brushed nickel. If that's the case, what do you think the lighting finish would be? Do many people mix and match finishes like that? I love oil rubbed bronze on lighting/handles etc but in faucets and shower heads I prefer brushed nickel but thought it would look strange if you mix it. Thanks for any help you can provide. »
Ward-Young Architecture & Planning Typically the hardware will match the plumbing fixtures. However, it can come down to the clients' preference. In this case, the client chose not the match them. Thank you for your inquiry!
Can you use woodframed windows in a bathroom that has a steam shower? - I have a client that has stained wood windows throughout their house. Their bathroom remodel includes installing a steam shower and enlarging the window above the new Jacuzzi. Is it wise to install a wood window to keep continuity or go with vinyl? »
twincreek Thanks so much for the detailed response! I really appreciate it! We are in the beginning stages of building. Planning on doing a Steam Shower in Master Bath. It will be 6ft. by 3ft. (bath is about 12 x 11 and not counting a small closed off door where toilet is.) About 7 feet of double vanity on one wall, and then the other wall will have whirlpool tub (which I am leaning toward Aquatic Air Bath (serenity ???) and then the steam shower. Anyway, I love the frameless all glass shower door (want a very clean look with little hardware showing) I was gonna use part of deck from tub for the shower seat. I was curious about how well it will be sealed, wondered if I will be having problems down road. Hopefully, whoever installs should know what they need to do. ;) Thanks again so very much! Very kind of you to share all those details!
What are the dimensions of the bath and shower? - Beautiful! Great use of space. Could you please tell me the shower and bathtub dimensions and how deep the shower seat is? »
