I agree with Shennigans want to know where I can buy the birch wood logs. I am having a local artist to a painting for me of birch trees and want some to accessorize with. Please share »
Anne DeCocco Ask around at garden centers in your area, or ask a landscaping company for a local source. If you lived in Maine, you'd just take a walk in the woods and pick them up!
The designer said, "bought them in New Orleans at a consignment store called Renaissance, they where the only 2 they had. I had them stripped and then re upholstered."
The designer says, "There are no tiles in that photo, perhaps you are referring to the mantel which I designed and had lacquered or the coffee table which is in the foreground. It is also my design and is made of granite."
Go for symmetry. Although this room is not perfectly symmetrical, draw a mental line through the center. Now fold it along this line. There are enough mirror-image items to give the shot a pleasing balance, yet enough different elements to keep the image interesting.
Criticism abounds around the issue of TVs above the fireplace, and while I understand the reasons behind putting a TV up there (a room shouldn't have too many focus points, after all) I tend to agree with the "don't do it" camp. Placing a television to one side of the fireplace is a wonderful solution. An offset TV adds another dimension to a room, especially one that is mostly symmetrical.

Love the modern take on a faux fireplace. I am dying for a fireplace in my home, but that is not too practical in Miami! This is an idea I am p,anning to incorporate.
Sick of logs you can't burn? Try an EcoSmart Fire Scope 500 instead! It's ventless, clean burning, and fueled by bioethanol.
