Vintage Singletree Wall Decor

This listing is for one wall hanging made from two reclaimed singletrees that were once used on a working farm in Colorado. From what I was told by the family of the original owner, these date back to the early 1900s. A singletree is "a bar behind draft animals and in front of a load, such as a wagon, that balances the load. Generally the animals are attached at the ends and the wagon or other load to a pivot in the middle of the singletree."

The highly textured weathered wood and the rich patina on the iron hardware -- developed from years of heavy use and the not-so-gentle touches of Mother Nature -- give this piece an historical presence that pays homage to the American farmer. Repurposing it as wall decor not only gives it new life, but a guarantee to be remembered.

As seen in the photo, the two singletrees have been joined together and can be easily hung on the wall with the two keyhole hangers that have been attached to a plate on the back. The bolts in the wood are secured in place by nails taken from vintage/used horseshoes and for those who wish, the bolts have been positioned so as to allow a place for a personal item to be hung by the new owner. This would be a wonderful place to display a memory from a special horse or a family farm.
