A Mediterranean-style home with 8,500 square feet of living space, this home features recycled old beams and beautiful cabinetry. Terraced into the hillside and overlooking the valley and vineyards below, the grounds are handsomely landscaped and feature a vanishing edge pool. A separate barn with a copper roof doubles as an office space.

Even though this space is large and airy, the use of natural materials gives it a warm, rustic feel. Plus, the way the furniture is arranged to create smaller living spaces turns a big space into several more intimate areas.

Sometimes the entire house is made from something that has been converted. Barns converted into living spaces are a great example of this. Warehouses converted into lofts are another good example.
