For this custom installation, we had a sheet metal subcontractor bend a sheet of stainless steel over a 4" tall wood backing in order to create the 1/4" thickness, or depth, visible at the top and side edges of the splash (see attached detail photos). It was then installed and sealed after the counter installation was complete.
Because of the minimal design and material palette, it was critical that the dimensions were built per plan, and that the splash terminated in alignment with the edge of the 1/2" thick counter.
