Inspiration for a contemporary family room remodel in Los Angeles

Greystone Mansion

Contemporary Family Room, Los Angeles

The guest room Jiun Ho was invited to design was five hundred and thirty square feet, with 12-foot ceilings and original 18th Century architecture by Gordon Kaufman. This room is presumably where Ned Doheny Jr.’s personal secretary, Hugh Plunkett, murdered him before turning the gun on himself in suicide. Presenting the story with a modern twist and reminiscent of the era, Jiun drew to the idea of a moody relaxation chamber where guests would gather before and after dinner. Custom designed for this installation, he created furniture pieces that include conversational sofas, armchairs and a cocktail table.
