Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Oh, certainly....and the end unit on the right was the appliance garage, so the deeper cabinet made sense to be able to store blender, coffee maker, etc. Thanks so much for your comments.
Awesome island! Could you please share the dimensions with me? - We are building, and my island is drawn at 30" by 64". Wondering if I have room to do this. I love that there are places to sit without giving up some storage! »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The overall dimensions was approximately 82 x 35". The kitchen was fairly small and tight with the chairs, so we were working with what we had. If there was more room to go wider, that would be more comfortable with the chairs. I do offer long distance consultations and can evaluate your current plans you have and give suggestions.
What size was the subway tile used in the backsplash? - Hi,
Did you use 3x6 or 4x8 subway tile?
Thanks so much; I absolutely love how the backsplash is broken up with a single line of 1" sq. tiles. »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B It was a 3x6 crackle glaze ceramic. The exact tile was discontinued.....the factory changed their production offerings. There are quite a few that are similar.
Leaded Glass - Love your leaded glass design on the cabinet doors. Is this new glass or antique? Can you tell me more about the leaded glass? We are attempting to go this route in our new construction kitchen to mimic an old house. »
We specialize in designed art glass using copper foil technique, which is much more elegant looking and stronger than leaded glass. Please have a look at our page and feel free to reach out for any questions.
Where can I get the kitchen cabinets pulls? - It looks like the kitchen cabinets have a back plate. Is it the case? or please just tell me where I can get these pulls. I really need these.
Thanks. »
ef112881 Hi Kayron, we are currently updating our kitchen and I absolutely love your cabinet pulls. We kept our current cabinets because they were in good condition but installed st cecilia granite. I need pulls with back plates, as the cabinets have an extra hole that need to be covered. Please let me know where you found these- they are perfect! Thanks. ef335@nyu.edu
Cabinet Colors - I can see you use Crystal Cabinetry. Can you recommend one of their stock colors that is a 'warm white'. I am looking at Designer White, Cotton Ball or Frosty White. The trim in our home is a true white, not beige if that helps! Thank you! »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B No these were from Woodharbor. Yes, I did design a kitchen that received a Crystal Choice Award, and orinted in their brochure. That was when I sold Crystal. Great cabinets and company. Visited their factory last summer and was very impressed.
What is the sink, faucet, flooring, cabinets style and colour - Hello Kayron, this is a lovely kitchen! Will you share what is the sink and a faucet and a cabinet style/colour? Thanks a lot! »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The flooring is a white oak with a light stain, which was stained and finished on site. it was matched to the original flooring that was in the rest of the home.
Terri Lehman My electrician came up with a solution on his own....what i have found is he says no or whines then i say it can be done and show him and he gets it done...thank you again...our project is about a month away from completion...can't wait for the final look!
Is that an actual table over the kitchen island ? I LOVE it ! And it doesnt really appear to be a black but rather an off black ? Could you enlighten me ? »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The tile was a Dirk Elliot tile, but that color/series has been discontinued. The most similar manufacturers would be Pratt & Larson or Quemere. The tile in the photos was a warm beige/khaki tone with a gloss crackle finish.
Fiorano Tile Showrooms Quemere Tile & Sonoma Tile Makers have colors similiar. (Great kitchen, the contrasting Island is stunning). Tile available at Fiorano Tile Showrooms www.fioranotile.com
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The bar stools are from Restoration Hardware and we ordered a fabric separately and had them recovered. I believe the fabric was from Bernhardt and is a chocolate/cream houndstooth.
I have a split and am planning on knocking out the half wall between kitchen and dining room. There will be a peninsula added making the kitchen U shaped. We ill have stools on the dining room side.
There is currently hardwood flooring in both rooms but when the wall comes down there will be a big gap where the wall was so we need to make it look like a wall was never there.
We want to put in new flooring and want the easy to be able to wash tile especially near the sink (spills etc) and also like kthe formal look of hardwood under the dining table. We have a large dog and worry about him scratching new wood flooring. How do we make it work and flow throught the two rooms? »
Bud Dietrich, AIA If you have an older split with hardwood flooring you can weave in new hardwood to finish the gap where the wall was. Then refinish the floor all together and you're done. The most important thing is to weave the floor in. I've done this scores of time and it always comes out well. Just make sure the flooring contractor is skilled.
And I wouldn't worry about hardwood in the kitchen by the sink. We've had that situation for years with two dogs and never have had any regrets. Take a look:
kaki: like the colors, and the glass for the display shelves
Chris: This is a nice kitchen. The glass in the cabinet doors is nice. Not a fan of the island treatment. Do not like the countertop edging treatment.
