Frank Lloyd Wright designed over 1,100 pieces of furniture during a career that spanned 75 years. The most productive chapter of his design years came in the post war years between 1945 and his death in 1959. His UsonianĀ® houses, designed and built in those years, were the culmination of his life long effort to make quality modern design available to the middle class. The name UsonianĀ® is of Wright's origin, meaning of the United States of North America. These homes and furnishings were intended to make living areas the prominent gathering space for families. Furnishings for this suburban design movement maintained the simplistic principles of prairie style while inviting inhabitants to congregate and entertain in their homes' living and eating spaces. — Janet Paik
