What is the purple flower bordering the fence? - I really like the purple flowers on the right side of the photo. I'm assuming they are lavendar? If not, could you tell me what they are? I have one lavendar plant but it seems like it's mostly sticks, maybe I need to cut it down a lot more to get the nice new growth? Or is this a better plant more suitable for upright growth. Thank you very much. BTW, I also love the wooden fence - beautiful intricate pattern!!! »
Pedersen Associates The border is Lavandula stoechas 'Otto Quasti' It's been maintained away from the lawn so it's been shaped. The fence is red cedar and had to look good from both sides. Thanks.
For backyards where you're looking for a bit more privacy, tall solid wood fences are great when paired with an open top section. A bit of negative space at the top of the fence line is a nice decorative element as well. I love the level of detail in this fence pattern mixed with the curved wood gate.
6. Keep Things GreenWhile a lawn is one of the most comfortable surfaces for dogs and people to wander on, a common problem when you have a dog is brown spots, due to the nitrogen in dog urine. Keeping the lawn well watered and the blades somewhat long will help dilute the urine and hide the browning. There are also products available to help prevent or lessen the burn.

I love this backyard: the wooden gate & fence, the climbing flowers, the lavendar all along the side and just how everything fits so nicely. Well done!
What a sweet way to create privacy. I'd like this around the entire perimeter of the backyard. Little seating areas all around. Private yet light and airy.
