Those tall plants are Carolina Cherries or Prunus caroliniana. A very versatile hedge/screen plant, that can be left natural or sheared to a desired height and width. We like this plant very much for its dark color and small leaf texture, providing an ideal backdrop planting. Possibly the only negative is that it does drop small black fruit. It is also available in various varieties that offer a choice of eventual maximum height.
