Handwerk Interiors Face frame on cabinets for inset or overlay doors were originally used to stiffen the cabinets. Long time ago The hardware i.e. hinges and drawers were not adjustable and the cabinets needed to be strong and had to be perfectly square. In those days solidwood and later plywood was the material of choice which tended to warp more.. With the use of new substrates like particlecore boards with a paper based film (melamine) or medium density fibreboards (MDF) the face frames became obsolete and were more used as a design feature. The disadvantage of the face frames is that valuable cabinet space gets lost , important for small kitchens. If you want to go with a traditional english countrystyle look and you have enough cabinet space I I recommend a face frame kitchen with inset doors because it is a classic look: the real deal.
I love this kitchen. We live in the suburbs of Chicago and I recently saw and liked a slab of granite called Galaxy Cream. I've never heard of Galaxy Cream before....Is anyone familiar with it? »
1kathykelly Thank you, we're working with a contractor we really like who usually works with a couple of different granite yards. I'll keep you posted if we need to try someone else. We appreciate the help!
Hello! Please give me information on this backsplash. The granite we installed is extremely busy with a lot of color and I am hoping that this will work with it. »
janetrpwhite Any more detail than that on the backsplash to the right? I am also trying to match square tile to white dove cabinets with kashmir granite.
jkryan I love these pendants, but I have antique brass Boston Functional Library Lights over my bar just about 5 feet behind my island. Is it ok to have these chrome pendants so close to the brass?
