Your best bet it to get advice from your local appliance retailer who is up on the latest information. We've seen it happen where a reliable brand suddenly becomes unreliable due to a factory moving, merger etc...
That said, I'm particularly smitten with Vent-a-Hood because all they do is ventilation and they do it quite well.
Another consideration is that you don't want to over-ventilate because that can in fact negatively impact your indoor air quality (isn't that a surprise!). Fine Homebuilding magazine had a story about it a while back. Here's the general idea: http://www.oikos.com/esb/53/rangehood.html
