Here is an example of a much larger and likely custom-built piece that acts as a headboard as well as storage. I assume there is closet space on the other side, while the side we see comes complete with shelves and cabinetry. Adding upholstered squares makes the piece look like a more authentic headboard.

I love this. There is allegedly storage space in the headboard, but the description didnt say how. I assume maybe behind the headboard is closet space. Anyway, I love the ceilings, the open feel. The bed not attached to the wall. The windows and the curtain. I love everything about this bedroom and want one similar.
