judyg I AM ON THE CAPE AND I LOVE CHERRY LAUREL. YOU CAN LET IT GO OR TRIM IT. GREEN YEAR 'ROUND AND LOVES OUR NANTUCKET SOUND WEATHER. ALSO, FOR LARGER SPACE, WE HAVE HAD GREAT LUCK WITH JAPANESE PINE. A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM LEYLAND CYPRESS.

Although some may argue that an entire bank planted with the same species of rose contradicts the unique and rare qualities that are associated with a single bush or stem, I think this flourish of roses only escalates the grandeur and beauty of the rose. In this case, too much of a good thing is a great thing.

Stay on top of rose pests and disease. If you notice a black spot, pick off affected leaves right away so it doesn't spread. Aphids can be managed in their early stages with organic insecticidal soap or a quick blast of water, while caterpillars, if noticed quickly, can be picked off and relocated to a wild area of the garden.
