Jutta van Doornick Hope this picture will help to make a decision ....I LOVE the red countertop! Go for it if the colors of the cabinets are all in dark gray like you mentioned. Would like to see your kitchen when it's done! Pendant lights: I would choose dark gray (outside of shade) in the shape of a half ball. Simple and clean modern design.

Large-format tiles are also a strong trend in kitchen flooring this year. They usually have rectified edges, allowing them to install with minimal grout lines. This looks clean as well as modern and minimizes maintenance.

Glazed tiles are impervious to kitchen spills, and the minimal amount of grout lines keeps scrubbing to a minimum. Just as on your countertops, epoxy grout is a better choice here than traditional grout.
