Cole Street –– Cole Valley, San Francisco, California An upper level Edwardian flat was stripped down and rebuilt, with an emphasis on visually opening rooms up to one another and creating bright, free-flowing spaces. The back porch was rebuilt and opened to the kitchen, flooding the kitchen with light and expanding the space. Passages were added between rooms, walls were opened up and windows added, transforming a run down flat into a beautiful, light-filled home. Completed Spring 2005 by A.Murphy Construction. katiebee4 I'm also curious what was used on the floor if anyone knows? For my boys' bathroom, I am doing alder cabinetry, carrara marble, white subway tiles and don't know what will wear well on the floor or a couple of boys...

Rebekah Zaveloff That looks like the top of a tiled in tub. Kolher has a few very rectangular tubs like that - the Archer, the Kathryn, and the Tea for Two.

1. Add a decorative border. The white bathroom is as popular as the white kitchen, and basic white tile — whether it's a 4"x4" or 3"x6" — can be really affordable. Mosaics can be pricey in comparison, especially if you want to do your whole bathroom in them. You can add some of their visual interest without spending a lot of money by using them in contrasting border. This technique has been around for a long time, as anyone with a vintage bath can tell you. Here, a double row of green mosaic glass tile up high on the wall, mixed in with a classic white subway tile, does the trick.
