Can the architects or anyone else provide more detail on lighting in this room; specifically interested in the track lighting. Also, it the window sandblasted or frosted glass for privacy or is it a "light box"? Many thanks! »
Brilliant! Lighting & Design I can only speak to the question of the lighting over the desk.
This looks like it is Tech Lighting's Rail system. That is a low voltage rail (thinner, and bendable, unlike track), using a transformer (in this instance, remotely located) to supply the electricity. The three heads in this image appear to be the Spot fixture.

I love how white makes this space shine. This one is taking advantage of space with multiple storage areas and a pretty basic design concept. It is crisp and comfortable.
Currently #1 most popular home office on houzz.

"It is pretty rare to find a white home office. This one with the pretty colored items looks like a nice place to work in."(nmakhani)
Here a work area is set up along a far wall in a small space, where perhaps a chair would have been placed instead, angled towards the sofa. I suspect this office gets more use than a chair would have. The track lighting, installed hovering above the work area, ensures proper task lighting.
At first glance this space seems very spare and modern, but there is scads of personality within it - check out that fabulous lamp, and the small prints and photos on the shelves.
If space is at a premium in your home, one wall can do the trick. Keep it simple when it comes to setting up shop in multifunctional room. Too many little compartments tend to make a space appear cluttered and actually can make it difficult to find what you need.
On a long and simplified work space like this, consider adding a stylish filing cabinet beneath. When the desk is as simple as this (and without legs to interfere), you can also stack sleek storage boxes or even attractive books below when not in use.
9. The workspace. You don't have to store all the peripherals—bills to be paid, extra paper, desk-drawer effluence—at your desk. Put it somewhere else and save the workspace for working.
Built-In BeautiesBuilt-ins are great space savers, but they often look like cheap cabinets with a slab of granite in between. This simple slab of natural wood with bookshelves overhead elevates the built-in to an architectural statement.
Leave 'em hanging. "We wanted to hang the desk and shelving off of the walls to keep the room feeling light and airy while at the same time providing a generous work surface and shelving," says Jonathan Feldman of Feldman Architecture. "This is a converted garage, and we left the garage door on the front and put a new wall with a translucent polycarbonate panel in front of the existing garage window to let in the light."More:A Desk for Every Home Office

For fans of the Series 7 chair, who think Design Within Reach is a misnomer :) I found nearly identical chairs at flatrock-furniture.com for $65 a piece.. they're called the Tessa Stacking Chair.. same great lines, but you can get 4 for less than the price of 1 Series 7! I've had mine for 2 years now.. they're great.
