Sit-down meals with extended family or friends occur quite often with this busy family. The clients wanted a dining room that could feel formal and contemporary but at the same time they wanted easy care and maintenance. The parson’s chairs are upholstered in micro-fiber, the draperies are polyester with the weight, feel and look of silk. Cotton roman shades were installed to keep the intense sun out during the day. Mark wanted to bring an element of surprise so a soffit was constructed with the recessed ceiling draped in a chocolate brown and ice blue polyester fabric and highlighted by a contemporary crystal chandelier that was hand made in the Czech Republic. The two custom built sideboards are topped with onyx and were stained to match the dining table which can accommodate up to 12. The custom frameless beveled mirrors hold crystal wall sconces to add more light when needed. The window treatments are examples of the design style that Hermogeno Designs offers to their clients while fulfilling a client’s needs. The window treatments are clean and simple and very functional. The fabrication was also important. The drapery is lined in cotton canvas material rather than traditional lining material that help keep the sun out during the summer and retain the warmth in the winter.
HERMOGENO DESIGNS The table is from Ligne Roset (look for their showrooms on their site http://www.ligne-roset-usa.com/), the side chairs we had custom fabricated and the tall wicker/rattan head armchairs I believe we purchased from Z-Gallerie and had the seat cushion covers replaced and added pillows too. Crate and Barrel carries a similar armchair as I don't think Z-Gallerie doesn't carry that particular chair anymore. Hope that helps.
There are so many gorgeous yellow flowers - they're a perfect way to brighten up a room. (In fact, right now, Trader Joe's has Irish daffodils for $1.50!) I love how this staid, traditional dining room is made cheerful by a simple vase of flowers.
Sometimes a traditional candelabra is also a nice touch in a more modern room. The clean lines of this table and chairs are a good fit with the slightly more ornate chandelier.
I love this dining room for its neutral grays, but I especially love the way the owners of the space use small, changeable touches - the flowers and table settings - to add tiny jolts of color.
A dimmed chandelier can always serve as candlelight in a pinch. I like that this table has different chairs on the ends. It keeps things from getting too matchy-matchy.
Want to take your dining space to the next level? Wallpaper the ceiling in a dramatic color, like black. This glamorous addition will surely be unparalleled.
