Traditional Turkish patterns from an assortment of vintage pieces mix to make this hand made, naturally distressed vintage rug. Full cotton backing and decorative blanket stitch edging. Remnants of vintage wool on a cotton warp, made entirely by hand in the '60's through '80's when Turkish women still included weaving in their daily homemaking chores. Employing the sturdy double knot technique unique to Turkish rugs, multicolor floral and medallion motifs were created a row at a time using bright hand dyed wools. Considered too old fashioned for modern Turkish homes in their traditional incarnations, these rugs have languished in back rooms of the bazaars…until now, as these fragments in excellent condition are overdyed and combined to create modern patchwork statements for the floor.
