The principal design goal of this remodel was to create an elegant and functional space to compliment this Cape Cod Style beach home and the clients cooking focused lifestyle. The challenge was to stay with in the current footprint of the existing kitchen, as to not disrupt the adjoining areas, while maximizing storage, functionality and the beauty of the home. To create a more open plan in this galley kitchen, we removed the walls around the closet style pantry and “butlers pantry”. We redesigned this area of the kitchen with highly customized storage cabinetry and specialized appliances to create continuity within the formerly divided space. We added a second set of doors to the space to lead directly from the kitchen onto the deck, to allow the space to expand even more during the Summer months. To create additional storage in the kitchen, the cabinetry was designed with increased depths, specialized hardware, and generous drawer space throughout. We used a soft, light and airy palette to blend seamlessly with the rest of the home and it's waterfront surroundings.
