This bench is a great example of how to add drama to a space otherwise forgotten...

I really love this space (though I'd pair the black and white with a bright, kelly-green rug or wall). The sofa's pattern is so cool and the antique side table is perfect. But the details here? They're in the books. Books are the quickest way to personalize a space - what says more about who you are than what you like to read?

One of my favorite ways to incorporate books in a room's design is to stack them as a stand for displaying different objects. Here we see a single stack of black books that perfectly sets off the white in both the base and the object atop the books. Multiple stacks can also be used to create display pieces of varying heights.

The garden stool makes a great addition...

A more detailed fretwork pattern is present on this garden stool, creating an interesting tension when placed next to ornately turned balusters and the trellis pattern covering a bench.
