natural gas input pipe - What was the size of natural gas input pipe diameter and how many btu's to ignite the length of the burner
What is the length of the pipe »
Jeannette Architects Hi there! It's a 1" diameter cast iron pipe 12 feet long. I have no idea the BTU's but when it's on full, our gas meter spins like a top! We enjoy the fireplace with friends and neighbors roasting marshmallows with wine. S'mores are wonderful on a summer afternoon! Jeff - Jeannette Architects
Jeannette Architects Thanks for asking... there's a standard gas valve outside the left of the photo in a cut-out similar to the one you see on the right side of the fireplace, near the black steel post. We use this valve to turn the gas on and off as well as regulate the flame height. A match or log lighter kick starts the fireplace for marshmallows / s'mores! ~ Jeff Jeannette, Jeannette Architects
Jeannette Architects Hi there!
Above the flame, embeded in the concrete top, is a rusted steel chimney / flue with a rocking damper to control the heat into the patio. Unfortunately there aren't any plans for this fireplace - we did it on the fly. You may want to check your local codes regarding fireplaces
