The Shell Chair designed by Hans J. Wegner had a slow start in the beginning. It was misunderstood in 1963 when it was presented at a Danish furniture exhibition. However, Carl Hansen & Son re-introduced the chair in 1998. The chair immediately won several design awards and broad public appeal. The chair appears to have a floating lightness due to its wing-like lines and tapered legs. The frame is a veneer is multiple wood finishes: Ash, Oak, Walnut, and Beech. The cushions are made of soft fire resistant foam upholstered in a vast selection of fabrics and leathers. Manufactured by Carl Hansen & Son.Designed in 1963.
