MY BACKYARD HASLOTS AND LOTS OF ROCKS, WE HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO REMOVE THEM BUT THEY ARE TOO BIG AND THEY ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE, SO PLEASE SINCE I CAN'T REMOVE THEM I KNOW I HAVE TO USE THEM IN A DESIGN. PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS »
Becky Harris If possible, attach a picture (just hit the "browse" button below to find them in your computer so we can get an idea of what you're talking about. Can you move them at all or are they stuck where they sit? I think big rocks can be a really cool feature in your yard, especially at the end of the patio. You could always place them in the most meditative way, throw some gravel around them and rake it, ala Kyoto....
Annie Thornton Also take a look at this featured ideabook on landscaping with boulders and rocks. Often times landscapes that have incorporated what occurs naturally and just working with it, as opposed to against it prove to be the most successful and interesting.
So maybe a picnic table in the garden isn't exactly surprising...but in this garden, I think it creates a great casual entertaining space. A more formal table and chairs would set off a whole different vibe. Plus, I love picnic benches - there's nothing better than squeezing in around the table for a fun summer meal.
Don't feel overwhelmed or that everything has to be elaborate. A good old fashioned picnic table and benches could be all you need to enjoy your patio.
Whenever I see this photo, I think to myself "If only I had a smaller yard," haha! The lush green plants and bordering walls makes this space feel like a secret garden. Add a few friends and some appetizers and you've got yourself a memorable evening that you will think back on for years to come.
intimate space, wonderful lush color palette of plants of mostly different colors of green. love the color of the stone juxtaposed to all the greens and the natural golden wood color with picks of the gold spiked grasses. simple and beautiful space. very relaxing.
