Bought new brownstone. Need to strip wood. what wood is this and what stain? thanks. - Hi.
Just bought a brownstone with tons of beautiful woodwork. It's cherry wood with a deep red stain. We want to get the red out and get it as light as possible. What kind of wood do you have in this room? is it just a natural finish?
Thank you.
Such a beautiful job. »
Neuhaus Design Architecture, P.C. Thank you! The wood in that room was an odd combination of maple and mahogany as two spaces were combined into one. We had a very talented wood refinisher who bleached both woods and got them very close to one another. With cherry I would have your refinsher do several samples for you to see what effect he is able to achieve. We did find that the mahogany trended pink, and you may have the same issue with the cherry. Good luck!
JP Warren Interiors Sorry for the delayed response. They are vintage and I knew the maker at one time and cannot remember now but they are quite similar to the "Joker" Chair by Olivier Mourgue.
Neuhaus Design Architecture, P.C. Unfortunately, I am not sure who made it. That fixture was from our client's own collection. She had quite a wonderful selection of vintage fixtures that she picked up over the years at flea markets and auctions.
For that reason, there is a clear demarcation between public and private spaces in the home — with the bedrooms residing in the upper stories of the house while the open living areas remain on the entry level for hosting intimate cultural events and fundraisers.
