Nuts? - Where did you manage to find black 1-1/2" nuts? I've been hunting for those same style but in 1 inch. Can't seem to find them anywhere. »
Schmitt + Company It's actually very heavy 1 1/2" threaded steel rod w/ nuts on top & bottom of shelving. Big erector set. Rods took time to clean and degrease carefully and wax.
Where can I find wood like this? - I have researched these shelves and I understand the hardware needed. I'm wondering where I can find unique wood? A large home improvement store only carries pressure treated and other basic woods. Where can I find reclaimed wood? Would a lumber store have it or do I need to look at a different type of store? Thanks so much! »
zpdedoda Local architectural salvage companies (our local also salvages the old timber joists from city buildings). You might also check with smaller lumber mills in your area.
How much would the cost of the supplies be to do this project? - I don't want to spend lots of money on book cases but i want something that is easy to take down and move with. I don't want anything that has be nailed into the walls »
Dimensions - Can you please tell me the thickness of the boards, total height of the wall unit and space between shelves? Thank you and congratulations! This thing is awesome! »
Load your kids' rooms with shelving; they’re going to need it to help them stay organized. Plus, starting them with basic organization tools will help them kick off the year on the right foot. This design is a great space saver as it includes both shelving and a desk.
Think big and fill the wall with your storage. These free-standing shelves with incorporated desk surface were made from reclaimed, thick planks on long, threaded rods.
14. The contractors at this office made this fabulous bookshelf out of salvaged timbers and large threaded rod. The lime-green wall really makes the bookshelf pop.
I love the shelves combined with industrial metal pieces. Not a fan of the desk, but if it was all shelving, amazing. I love the thickness of the wood and the textures it shows.

Like how desk is surrounded by shelves. Shelf space is nearby and the books make the work space cozy and intellectual at the same time. Like they're wrapping their arms around you as you work.
