The owners of this condominium wanted to transform their outdated bathrooms into spa-like retreats. The concept was to create a soothing and timeless design while maintaining the existing footprint of the current bathrooms. Existing structural columns and plumbing stack locations were integrated into the design.
Continuity between the bathrooms was important and was created by using similar materials in each bathroom - Spanish marble on the floors and walls, and quarter sawn walnut for the custom floating vanities. Design interest was created with glass tiles - 1x8 glass mosaic tiles in the master bath and 4x12 glass tiles in the guest bath. Minimalist, square trimless down lighting was used throughout. Contemporary and energy efficient perimeter cove lighting creates a floating ceiling plane while highlighting the tile walls in soft light.
Custom designed floor-to-ceiling cabinetry provides ample storage and an open display niche in the master bathroom. The design of the bathrooms achieves the look and feel of a luxury hotel with functionality and comfort for daily enjoyment.

Sink Faucet - I was wondering who manufactures the sink faucet. »
dSPACE Studio Ltd This is the Tara Faucet from Dornbracht. The Tara line has many faucet options, we selected the wall-mounted versions with cross handles because we love the easy maintenance of wall mounted faucets. Thank you for your question and good luck with your project.

dSPACE Studio Ltd Hi, great question. Yes, the tub surround is from the same Nublado marble as the floor tile and the wall tile in the shower. Stone Source in Chicago supplied the tile for this project. Good Luck with your project.

dSPACE Studio Ltd Hi Karen, great question. The door into this bathroom is not visible from this angle, but it is a swing door, not a pocket door. However, we do like using pocket doors into smaller bathroom and closet spaces when possible as they really open up the available floor space. Thanks for your question and good luck with your project.

Is this the regular or light nublado and in polished or honed? - We are in contact with Stone Source to order. I would think polished would be easier to care for but more slippery, especially on the floor. Thoughts? Thanks for your reply! »
dSPACE Studio Ltd We prefer a honed finish for nublado marble, and honed is what you see in the bathroom above. We are glad to hear you are working with Stone Source to source this material. They are very knowledgeable about their products and can give you care guidelines for the nublado marble as well as their opinion on the durability of honed vs. polished. There is a darker version of this marble called Walnut Brown, which we did not use on this project but we have used on others and is also a great marble. Hopefully that answers all of your questions, good luck on your project!

dSPACE Studio Ltd Great Question. The bottom portion is a medicine cabinet and the top portion is a fixed mirror that was installed flush with the medicine cabinet and the wall tile for an integrated look. Thanks for your question and good luck with your project.

dSPACE Studio Ltd Great question, the shower fixtures for this bathroom are all by Jado. You can browse their product line at www.jadousa.com. The hand held shower is the Glance and they have several options for tub spouts and controls depending on the look you want to achieve. Good Luck with your project!

dSPACE Studio Ltd The vanity counter is a marble from Stone Source called Nublado. The finish is honed. Ann Sacks has a similar marble they call Athens Silver and most stone vendors carry a variety of Nublado. I highly recommend the honed over true polished for a richer looking slab. Thanks for asking and good luck with your projects! dSPACE Studio, Chicago.
dSPACE Studio Ltd Great question. We designed the Nublado marble counter (purchased from Stone Source) to have 90-degree eased and mitered edge. The counter is 1.5 inches thick. Thanks for your question and good luck with your project.

ats1203 I used the glass tiles but many show marks coming through from behind. Tiles were perfect prior to installation on the wall. Why did this happen and what can be done to correct?
dSPACE Studio Ltd It's hard to evaluate what happened without more information, but our suggestion would be to reference the tile installation guide to see what materials the tile manufacture recommends for behind the tile. You might also have a few tile installers look at the installation and give recommendations. A couple of professional opinions might be very informative and give you a better sense of what your options are for fixing the tile. Good Luck with your project!

dSPACE Studio Ltd Amy, The tile in this bathroom is from a line called Glacier and was purchased from Stone Source. Color is Water Green and size is 4x8. Thanks for your question and good luck with your projects. dSPACE Studio's portfolio of award winning work can been seen at www.dspacestudio.com
dSPACE Studio Ltd This is a natural stone (marble) and requires sealing periodically. We have used this marble only in bathrooms. It may be used in a kitchen but will not be your most durable option. Good luck with your project.
No matter where you mount those shelves, they should fill the space and relate to the style of the bathroom. Adding shelving that doesn't quite fill the wall or relate in style makes it look like an afterthought. Often, it takes having custom shelving to fully use the space and give the room that designer look that we love.
8/10
Wood - Darkest i would want
Counters - Non-white works well with this darkness
Tile - This is where I got the inspiration for the green tile.
Sink - The type of sink I want, not the faucet

Already in bathroom.
The color combination of this is great. The marble is something that could be done for floors in both bathroom and kitchen as it would give it a minor wood feel.
