This formerly blank wall comes to life with a direct vent fireplace and TV cabinet. The simple, cottage-style details with tongue-and-groove paneling make this arrangement feel comfortable in this cozy living room space. By setting the television to the side (instead of over the fireplace, which is common), the TV is at a very comfortable viewing height. The arched fireplace surround is finished with river-washed noce travertine marble. The hearth is raised about 6" so the fire can be seen across the room from the kitchen. There is a drawer under the television for storing DVDs and videotapes.
lfaulkenbery It looks beautiful! I have been searching for design ideas for weeks! I'm uploading a picture of what it looks like now and hope to achieve something as beautiful as yours. Thanks for sharing!
Another option to hide the TV and make it easier to view. But we don't need a huge TV in there. However, takes up storage space. This may be my first choice for this room - smaller TV, lower viewing area and behind doors.

The fireplace now is lost on a wall. It's scale does not match the space. It is almost flat against wall. What do you think if we build in the fireplace wall from side to side. Sent many options we can do to this idea. It would make the room larger doing built ins. Lose the furniture in the room except the new big comfy sofas, 4 chairs and game table. Sent this photo to show how we can lower the TV as a BUILT IN vs above fireplace
This is an idea for basement far well. Pretend the picture above the fireplace is our basement window. Tie it all in together on this wall that will also hold our tv
