Can you please tell me what material the countertop in the foreground is? Slate? - I think I want to have slate countertops in my kitchen. Any pros and cons you could share with me? Thanks! »
Crisp Architects The counter top material is soapstone, however to your question about slate, a pro would be it is relatively dense, thus resistant to stains and acids like vinegar. It is very easy to maintain and is also pretty heat resistant. A great thing is that it is cheap to have installed and is available at competitive prices. The drawbacks of slate would be that it has a fairly dull finish. If you like the high gloss reflective look, slate is not the way to go since it does not present any type of shine. Another of the practical disadvantages of using slate is that it can scratch easily through general use and wear and tear.
wide opening to living space allows connection while retaining wall space in kitchen. Also like soapstone and wood counters, glass cabinet fronts, huge island
the cabinet on the far right for the pantry . . dark wood counter top . . but very thick so it looks modern . . and paneling in the back so it's timeless . .
The countertops are dark stained maple. The lights-I think are Lightolier.
love the use of molding for the back splash.
Would rather some more rustic type cabinets
