Wood beams - I would love to know the color of the stain used on the wood beams. Would like to use on the scissor trusses I have in my home. Thank you! »
Dresser Homes @bocraig - I with I had a simple answer for you but it took a few attempts to get the beams a color everyone was happy with. I can tell you that the beams are rough hewn Cedar and that the stain is from Cabot (semi-transparent I believe). We initially coated them with "natural" but they were way too orange so we added another coat of something brown (burnt hickory maybe) to neutralize the orange tones. I recommend using the Cabot stains and making lots of samples before you make your decision. Good luck!

Dresser Homes This is not a "stock plan" which can be purchased. It was a custom home designed by an architect. The architect was David C. Fowler and Associates and his website is www.dcfarch.com. I'm sure he would be happy to talk to you about desiging a home for you.

Dresser Homes I have looked through my files and I cannot located the name of the stone. We got it from the Fieldstone Center in Conyers, GA. Perhaps you could email them a picture and they would recognize it. Sorry I coudn't help more.

leather and cow-print furniture
Condition leather. Leather furniture can actually look better with age, provided that it is properly cared for. Use a leather conditioner a few times each year to keep the leather from drying out and cracking.
Keep it looking fresh by vacuuming and then buffing with a dry microfiber cloth as needed. Wipe up spills as soon as they happen, using a dry cloth to soak up any liquid.
