That's interesting. I hadn't heard that about farmhouse sinks and I've been dying to use one in my kitchen. Might have to do some research on that now!

I dont' know either, it's what I've been reading when I was doing my research. The farmhouse sink looks so nice but since I'm also putting wood floors I'm concerned about water spill

Ahhh...well, if it is any consolation, I've had wood floors for years in my kitchen and spill routinely. As long as I clean up, the floors have been great.

The manufacturer is of the cabinets Crystal. The door style is a Brentwood inset door. The perimeter color is Frosty White with a pewter glaze and the wood is premium alder. The island and hutch are Cherry with a stained finish, although I cannot recall the specific color.
I have had farm sinks in my last 3 houses spanning 10 years and I love them. I typically use the Shaws Original from Rohl which is a baked on fireclay finish which is almost indestructable. I really havn't had any problem with water splashing out of the sink.

Hi, Hhhhh -- This featured ideabook has some good thoughts about the pros and cons of white marble in the kitchen. Basically, if you need your counter to never show signs of age and wear, marble may not be for you. I think the ideabook Sheila mentions above sums it up very well. Personally, I love the look of a honed white marble kitchen counter. Calcutta Gold is absolutely beautiful but can be very expensive. Carrera and Venetino are also good options.
One thing I would add about "staining" is that people tend to worry about stains affecting the color (like red wine or tomato sauce) but that's not what usually stains the counters. Typically the stain is more of a "blemish" in the sheen of the counter such as a "ring" of an olive oil bottle or something like that.

It is a Kitchenaid with overlay panels. Personally, I prefer the Subzero. It is probably a few thousand dollars more but I think it is worth it. Especially if you are looking for a built-in look. And their new model has an ice/water dispenser in the door now.

The sink sure does look wider in the photo, however objects closer in a photo tend to look larger. Hard to think that each cabinet door under the sink would be only 15 inches wide. Maybe it is a 36" wide sink. When chosing products for your kitchen, it is best to see them in person.

Yes, Rhoda is correct, it is a 30" wide sink from Rohl. I have used this sink numerous times and it is a great sink.
I have the 36" version in my personal house and I would recommend using that size if you have the room for it.

Yes, the herringbone insert is the same as the field tile. They are 2" x 4".

Thank you. Ironically, I ended up with Sonoma tile in a 2x4 stellar ( no crackle) and I love it;) I should upload photos. Tile, cabinets, appliances and counters are all in, just need to decide on appliance pulls and knobs. I ordered the tile through davinci marble in San Carlos, Ca.

Oh, I see now that the cabinet is 24". I was forgetting the range was 48!

I'm pretty sure the color we used is an off white (bisque, or antique white) and not a bright white. I know we bought the tile at Specialty Tile on Miami Circle here in Atlanta, but I cannot recall the manufacturer off hand. I bet if you contact Arlene there, she could identify the tile. Good Luck!
