For this client in a live-work loft, we had a living area with 23-foot high ceilings. There wasn't money in the budget for a super large-scale work of art, so I found fabric that was orange with white wavy lines and suspended it on a rod from the ceiling. The panel itself is 14 feet tall.

Textiles: Frame them, hang them, display them on a console. Whichever way you choose, an orange textile does its job by contrasting whatever surrounds it. Note the contrast of this poppy orange against the modern shade of gray.

This is a brilliant use of color. The vibrant orange hue livens up the cool gray and black, and the fabric softens all the hard surfaces. The best part, though, is that it would be supereasy and affordable to change out the orange — no paintbrush needed.

I like the idea of bringing in fabric.

Simple way to make a space look finished.

I like the colors, the strong forms, the interesting placement of lighting, the use of fabric as an artistic form, the underscaled round rug under the kitchen table which works well and is unexpected, the furniture choices and placement, the use of cool neutrals with bursts of bold warm color. Very well thought out and executed.

Easy and cheap. Build Simple wood frame, staple on nice fabric, cover huge space for $20-$30 (or less).

One of my criticisms of concrete is that it can be too cool and clinical. I like using wood as an accent to warm it up. But this approach of using fabric is an interesting alternative that provides a lot of flexibility.
