How did you get the ladder to lay flat against wall? - Usually these rolling ladders have a slight incline to them where by the time the ladder reaches the floor it is away from the wall by about 2 feet while the top of the ladder leans against wall/track. How do you get these ladders to lay parallel to the wall? »
Maybe we could visually subdivide the upstairs while leaving the floor open by putting a sleeping loft "balcony" across it, 1/3 of the way from the back.

If you decide to stick with a first floor remodel, there is always the option to reconsider the loft access. In lieu of the pull down stairs, you may want to consider a more sculptural approach.
Love this little loft above. Now that we are popping up the ceiling above living, could this work over the "library" space / hallway that leads to the office / play room? Access from playroom, and open above both office and playroom?
