Who knows what clutter lurks behind the dresser to the right, but this room seems to have organization down to an art. Literally. The rug (an important element for hard flooring--for cushioning bodies AND sound) adds the perfect aesthetic detail. Bunk beds could easily replace the bed and desk here.
One of my favorite uses for a bunk bed is the lofted-bed-plus-desk combination. This works really well in the dorm where you don't necessarily want to sleep under/over a new roommate. Each occupant gets his own sleeping and working space.
The pattern in this area rug feels like yellow and white stripes. The bold yellow draws the eye in instantly, and the pattern draws you across the room, as stripes would do.
If floor space is at a premium, get stuff off the floor. Like your bed. If you sleep in a queen you can gain 40 square feet of space by turning it into a loft.
7. Launder, launder, launder. Rent or buy a shampooer vacuum for synthetic rugs. For delicate weaves and wool carpets like the yellow Tibetan rug pictured above, contact a professional for cleaning.
Rugs. Wool fibers' antistatic properties and natural resistance to soiling makes them a desirable choice for rugs. However, when wool does get dirty, it is not as easy to clean as some synthetic fibers.
